ADDINGTON SALE

LITTLE CHANGE IN VALUES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, September 10. There were larger entries in the major sections of stock at today s weekly Addington market, but there was little quotable change in values. For 40 odd spring lambs penned there was a keen sale at values ranging from 30s to 44s or about Is 3d per lb. In the store sheep section values were a shade easier for ewes and lambs, which made up to 17s 8d for twotooths. All counted four-year and fiveyear ewes to lamb sold, at 22s 3d, early shorn wethers from the Chatham Islands sold at up to 24s Id. In the fat sheep section 3750 head were penned, mostly of good quality, and with some consignments from West Otago and the North Island. Quality was excellent and an easing is not quotable, though the larger entry made the market less keen. Good wethers made from 40s to 435, tops to 465, medium 34s to 395, good heavy ewes 24s to 28s, best to 325, prime medium 23s to 265, ordinary 22s to 265. In the fat cattle section 544 head were penned, 140 more than last week, yet the market held last week’s values. Some excellent quality was forward, several truck lots averaging round about £2O. Good steers sold at from £l7 to £2O, tops to £23 17s 6d, medium prime £l4 10s to £l6 15s, good heifers £ll to £l3, tops to £l6 17s 6d, best cows £lO 10s to £l2 10s, tops to £l5 7s 6d, rough down to £6 10s. Choice beef made from 44s 6d to 47s per 1001bs., good 40s to 43s 6d, medium 36s to 395, and secondary down to 30s. Good quality porkers were better by 2s to 3s a head, and for others there was no change. Values ranged from £2 7s 6d to £3 7s 6d, average per lb. 7gd to 91d. Bacon values were unchanged, prices being from £3 7s 6d to £5 2s 6d, average price per lb. 6Ad to 7.1 d.
