COASTAL COMMAND

ATTACK ON NAZI CONVOY

OFF COAST OF NORWAY. ONE SHIP TORPEDOED. LONDON, September 10. Beaufort aircraft of the Coastal Command attacked a German convoy off the south-west coast of Norway. One enemy ship was struck by a torpedo and when last seen had come to a standstill. One British plane was attacked by a Messerschmitt, which broke off the fight after having been damaged. The Beaufort was also damaged, but reached its base safely. All the other aircraft also returned, despite heavy antiaircraft fire from the ships and from shore batteries.
