GREYTOWN
LEAGUE OF MOTHERS MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the League of Mothers was held yesterday afternoon in the Parish Hall. Mrs Bull presided over a good attendance of members. Owing to the war the 14th birthday celebrations were not held. A letter conveying birthday greetings was received from Mrs McMinn,, of Masterion, a former member of the Greytown branch. An admission service was conducted by Mrs Bull when Mesdames T. N. Smallwood and E. Alexander were made members. Mrs Bull read a letter from Wellington, inviting all members to attend a combined League meeting in the Town. Hall on September 26, when Lady Newall would be present. Mrs Johnson read the thought for the month, and also several poems from the League of Mothers’ paper. The choir rendered two items, "Good Morning Brother Sunshine” and “Spring and Summer.” Miss Till, a visitor to Greytown, sang two songs, “What a Wonderful World it W T ould Be” and “A Light Song, a Bright Song.” Mrs F. C. Bunny spoke on the Emergency Precaution Scheme. Mrs W. Everett gave a demonstration of applying a triangular arm bandage, a St John's sling, and a capaline bandage for the head. Mrs J. F. Thompson assisted Mesdames Everett and Bunny. Mrs Bunny gave a brief talk on antiseptics, how to treat burns, and apply a tourniquet. Mrs Bull thanked Mrs Bunny for her very instructive talk. Mrs J..F. Thompson was thanked for supplying the flowers for the room. The next meeting will take the form of a “Members Day.” , Personal Items. Mrs N. S. McLeod left today for Dannevirke, where she will spend a holiday. She was accompanied by Mrs H. Farley. Mrs Till, of Wellington, who has been the guest of Mrs Gayler, Battersea returned to Wellington today. “ Mr and Mrs R. D. Vance were visitors to Greytown yesterday. Mrs W. Grigg has returned home from a holiday spent in Wellington.
Swimming Club. The Greytown Swimming Club will hold a social gathering and dance on Saturday evening when the presentation of trophies won last season will take place. Home Guard. Both the Headquarters Company and A Company will parade at 7.15 o clock tonight and afterwards attend the showing of the special E.P.S. film.
