GREYTOWN
DAY OF PRAYER SERVICE IN TOWN HALL. ("Times-Age” Special.) Over 400 people attended the service of prayer held in. the Greytown Town Hall yesterday afternoon. The returned soldiers, Fire Brigade, Home Guard, Boy Scouts, Girls Guides and Cubs attended under their respective officers. The Mayor, Mr A. W. Horton, said that they had gathered together at the request of the King, to pray to God for guidance in our hour of peril. The Rev. H. Bloomfield read the lesson and the Rev. Knowles Smith led the prayers. The address was given by the Rev. L. A. D. Hayman, who said that this part of the British Empire was starting a chain of prayer that would travel west right throughout the Commonwealth of Nations. Prayer, continued Mr Hayman, was “The Dominant Desire of the Heart,” and that sincere desire must surely bear fruit. Canon Sykes led the prayers for peace and the benediction was pronounced by Mr Bloomfield. Mr R. Anker presided at the organ. ' The collection amounted to £lO, and this will be given to the local Red Cross Society less expenses.
