Fighter Pilot on Deeds of Stalin’s Falcons ENEMY LOSSES OF MEN AND MATERIAL BEST TROOPS THROWN INTO BATTLE (By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, September 7. The Leningrad radio today is pouring out messages of confidence. A fighter pilot, Titarenko, who has been twice decorated, said in a broadcast: “Stalin’s falcons have destroyed over three hundred Nazi planes at the approaches to Leningrad.” , , Another speaker declared that tens of thousands of Hitler s hounds and hundreds of German planes and tanks had aheady found graves thereabouts. “The Pravda’s” war correspondent says the Germans are throwing their best men and machines into the battle for Leningrad. Their losses have been exceptionally heavy in this area. The Ninetieth Division lost over 1,500 killed and wounded and its commander was wounded and captured. Russian counter-attacks have thrown the Germans from various positions, including a village in which the Germans concentrated tanks and artillery.
