FAT SHEEP PRICES UP. GOOD VALUES FOR DAIRY STOCK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, September 5. Prices for fat sheep took a sharp turn upward at the Feilding stock sale today, all classes participating in the rise, which averaged 2s a head. The good quality of the stock offered, with thick coats of wool, encouraged higher prices. There was a, small yarding of store sheep, all hoggets, which, except for one or two outstanding pens, were at previous rates. The medium offering of run cattle sold well, the change in weather conditions to sunny days having an immediate effect on prices. Vendors’ values were generally reached. The better quality cf dairy cattle offered induced higher prices for both cows and heifers coming close to profit, buyers operating largely for export to Taranaki districts. Fat cattle prices firmed up appreciably good beef cattle going to 35s a 1001 b. " Prices are:— Sheep: Fat wethers, prime, 30s lOd to 31s lOd; extra prime heavy, 33s 4d; good, 29s Id to 80s 4d; fair, 22s to 28s lOd; fat hoggets, prime, 30s 4d to 31s lOd; very prime, 32s 4d; good, 25s Id to 27s 4d; fair, from 20s 7d to 22s lOd; fat ewes, prime, 19s lOd to 20s 7d; very prime, 21s Id; good, 17s 7d io 18s lOd; fair weights, Ils 4d to 16s Id; prime S.D. ewes, to 21s lOd. Stores: Ewe hoggets, very good condition, 28s 2d to 31s; others, from 225; wether hoggets, very good, 22s 6d; others, Ils 9d to 16s. 7d. Cattle: Dairy springing heifers, choice, close to calving, £l3 10s; other lines, £8 10s to £ll 10s: late calvers, £6 7s 6d; upwards second calvers, £9 to £ll ss; springing cows, forward, £9 to £lO 15s; late, from £4. Run cattle: P.A. bullocks, £lO 15s; yearling steers, £5 4s to £5 15s; two-year steers, £7; yearling heifers, £3 17s; two-year heifers, £4 19s to £6 Is; cows, £5 4s to £5 14s. Fat cattle: P.A. bullocks, prime, £l2 12s 6d; heifers, prime, £9 12s 6d to £ll 7s 6d; lighter sorts, £7 10s to £8 17s 6d; Jersey steers, £9 12s 6d; ex-dairy cows, £4 12s 6d to £6 7s 6d; ditto heifers, £5 2s 6d to £8 7s 6d; Hereford heifers £8 2s 6d.
