RANGITUMAU

RETURNED FROM OVERSEAS L/CPL. W. D. McLACHLAN. ■ MEMBER OF THE FIRST ECHELON. (“Times-Age" Special.) Lance-Corporal D. W. (“Wray") McLachlan. who left New Zealand with the First Echelon returned to New Zealand and has arrived at his home in Rangitumau. Lance-Corporal McLachlan, who is a son of Mr and Mrs / N. H. McLachlan, “Pine Grove," Rangitumau was a member of the Agricultural Division of the State Advances Corporation and at the time of ■ his enlistment was stationed at Taumaranui. He was educated at Wairarapa High School. Lance-Corporal McLachlan became ill on desert operations and spent many months in hospital. Lance-Corporal McLachlan is the first returned soldier, in the Rangitumau district, of the present war.
