FORESTRY BONDS

ASSESSMENT OF DAMAGES FOLLOWING ON JUDGMENT IN ADELAIDE. NEW ZEALANDERS CONCERNED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) ADELAIDE, September 4. An assessment of damages was sought in the Supreme Court, following on a judgment by default for claims totalling £7845 by 35 plaintiffs against the existing Forests Timber Milling Company, Ltd., of Sydney, and Charles Grierson Macindoe, timber merchant, Elsie Evelyn Macindoe, his wife, Stanley James Albert Watkins, and Frank Coomber, company managers, and John Derrick Prime, solicitor, all of Auckland. The claims arose out of the selling of bonds by alleged fraudulent misrepresentation or conspiracy to defraud. The sums claimed were those paid for bonds. Actions were discontinued against David Cambie, John McDonald and Malcolm H. McDonald, all of Rotorua, and others, of Sydney. The applications were heard before the Chief Justice, who said he would order an inquiry before the assessment of damages.
