« IMPROVING NAVAL BASE AT DAKAR AND STRATEGIC OVERLAND COMMUNICATION. OVER MILLION POUNDS VOTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.40 p.m.) VICHY, September 4. The Government has allocated £1,200,000 sterling for improving the naval base at Dakar and strategic overland communications to the Mediterranean, including improvements to the Dakar-Niger railway and completion of the trans-Sahara highway system.
