EDUCATION BOARD

FINANCIAL OPERATIONS FREE-FOR-ALL DEBATE IN HOUSE. CHARGES REJECTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. For 40 minutes yesterday afternoon the House of Representatives discussed a report by its Education Committee on a petition by Colonel T. W. McDonald, who sought an inquiry into certain financial operations of the Wellington Education Board. The verdict of “no recommendation to make" gave rise to strong criticism by the Minister of Education, Mr Mason, of the petitioner’s evidence before the committee. Members on' both sides were not slow to participate in a free-for-all debate on the affair. After lively and at times amusing references the committee’s recommendation was accepted with absolution for the Wellington Education Board.
