GOVERNMENT BILL LITTLE OPPOSITION EXPECTED. MINISTER HAPPY ABOUT POSITION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. “Negotiations are proceeding amicably and I do not expect much opposition to the Bill,” said the Minister of Health, Mr Nordmeyer, last night after a further conference with a subcommittee of the council of the New Zealand division of the British Medical Association on the details of a universal medical practitioner scheme. Mr Nordmeyer added that he was very happy about the position. The earliest at which the bill amending the Social Security Act so as to bring in the general practitioner service can now be introduced is Friday. Alterations have to be incorporated in the original, draft, the Minister said.
