WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING AT NIREAHA. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a moderate attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Nireaha Women's Institute held on Tuesday afternoon, Mrs N. Terry presiding. Mesdames J. P. Peterson and P. Wilkin were appointed delegates to attend the meeting of the Bush Federation at Konini. It was decided that three more soldiers’ parcels be packed and dispatched. Mesdames Peterson and Wilkin gave a most interesting account of Miss Cocks-Johnson’s visit, and on the motion of Mrs J. Hawkins they received a vole of thanks. The competitions resulted as follows: —Orange cake: Miss 11. Davis, 1; Mrs J. Drysdale, 2; Mrs J. Hawkins, 3. Best collection of spring bulbs: Mrs J. Hawkins, 1; Mrs A. Golder, 2; Mrs J. Drysdale, 3. Best bloom: Miss H. Davis, 1 and 2; Mrs Peterson, 3. The hostess for the afternoon was Mrs Keith Perry. Personal Items Mr F. Horner is making a good recovery from a severe attack of influenza. Mrs E. McAlister and family, John Street, are spending a holiday at Otaki. Miss C. Wilson has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mr D. D. Ryan is attending a transport instruction course at Trentham Military Camp. Mr and Mrs G. Horton, High Street, are visiting Blenheim. The death occurred at Pahiatua on Sunday of Mr Denis Kelly, for many years manager of the Konini Dairy Company. The late Mr Kelly associated himself with sporting activities of the Bush district. He was president, and later patron of the Bush Rugby Union, president of the Pahiatua Racing Club, and president of the Konini Football Club. The late Mr Kelly is survived by his wife, one son, Mr Frank Kelly, manager of the Bank of N.S.W., Westport, and two daughters, Mrs D. L. Bourke, Hamua, and Mrs M. Reidy, Wellington. The funeral took place at Mangatainoka on Tuesday afternoon. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. Father Cashman, assisted by the Rev. Father E. J. Sweeney, of Eketahuna. Hukanui Dairy Company. There was a fair attendance of shareholders at the twenty-sixth annual general meeting of the Hukanui Dairy Company. Mr A. E. Harrington (chairman) in his annual report stated that owing to the change over from butter to cheese, the company had welcomed back many of its old suppliers. The increased supply had enabled a new record in output to be reached. 364 tons, being 88 tons higher than the previous record. The average payout for all grades v/as 17.496 d. Messrs F. J. Wilsher, R. Ivlabey and Ron Udy were elected directors. Mr W. C. Harrington was re-elect-ed auditor. At a subsequent meeting of the directors, Mr Harrington was re-elected chairman.
