ROTARY AFFAIRS
BUSINESS AT TODAY’S LUNCHEON. NEW PRESIDENT TAKES OFFICE. The weekly luncheon meeting of the Mastertcn Rotary Club today marked the first meeting in the new Rotary year when the retiring president, Mr p. F. Fagan, handed over the gavel and chain of office to the presidentelect, Mr Norman Lee. There was a large attendance of members and their wives, to whom a warm welcome was extended by Mr Fagan. Mr and Mrs Hugh McLaren, Paraparaumu, were guests of the club. As a token of esteem and an appreciation of the services he had rendered to the club during his term of office as president, Mr Fagan was presented by Mr Lee with a silver sandwich dish, suitably inscribed. Mr Fagan expressed his thanks for the gift and acknowledged the sentiments accompanying it. The speaker for the day was Mr M. S. Galloway, Dominion Secretary of the New Zealand Red Cross Society. A report of his address appears in another column. On the motion of Mr S. L. P. Free, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the speaker for his informative address.
