PROTEST TO VICHY
TREATMENT OF PRISONERS IN SYRIA. DENTZ LEAVING FOR FRANCE. CAIRO, September 3. General Dentz (who commanded the Vichy forces in Syria) has left for Beirut from Jerusalem. He goes to France from Beirut tomorrow. General Sir H. Maitland Wilson has given* him a letter for Marshal Petain wherein he states that the treatment' meted out to British prisoners of war captured in Syria does not correspond with what was expected from the French
