Mr and Mrs G. Ross, Lansdowne, are visiting Napier. Miss N. Gunn, of Pahiatua. is spending a holiday in Wellington. Mrs Perrin, Kirton Street, Masterton, is a visitor to Wellington. Mr and Mrs J. Farrell, Renall Street, Masterton, arc visiting Wellington.' Mrs B. Davidson, of Wellington, is the guest of Mrs W. Pickett, Rakanui. Mrs T. Jenkins, of Wellington, and formerly of Masterton, is on a visit to Masterton. At the annual sports of the Rangiwahia Ski Club, Miss M. Stewart (Masterton) tied for second place with Miss P. McMahon (Palmerston North) in the ladies' championship. Injured in a blackout accident in Cairo, Sister Sybil Carthy, daughter of Mrs A. M. Carthy, Koromiki Road, Wanganui, has now been discharged from hospital, according to advice received by her mother. The accident occurred when Sister Carthy was motoring home in a taxi with other nurses after a public gathering. The taxi ran into a banyan tree, and Sister Carthy, who was in the front seat, received facial injuries. An old resident of Thorndon, Mrs Mary Ann Futter, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs J. S. Smith, Paekakariki, recently, at the age of 94 years. Mrs Futter was born in Gloucester, Forest of Dean, in December, 1846. She arrived at Lyttelton in the ship Brothers Pride in 1863, and in 1867 went to Wellington. In 1870 she married Mr John Futter. Mr and Mrs Futter took up residence at Old Pipitea Point and later moved to Grant Road. Six years later they left Wellington for Foxton. In 1881 Mr Futter died and Mrs Futter returned to Grant Road, whera she lived till a year ago.
