MASTERTON CLUB ANNUAL MEETING MEMBERS SERVING WITH FORCES SEASON’S FLYING STARTING THIS WEEKEND. There was a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Masterton Model Aero Club held in Masterton last night. Mr N. G. F. Whiteman presided. In speaking on the year’s activities Mr Whiteman said that taking into consideration the size of Masterton against that of the other towns and cities in inter-club competition the club’s successes were particularly noteworthy. There were only two foundation members left on account of nearly all. the old members being in the Air Force. A former foundation member, Mr T. Horton, had recently received his commission, as a pilot officer with the R.A.F. The spirit of carrying on was in great evidence in the club and members on active service would be assured of a club to come back to on their return. “I am proud to be connected with such an enthusiastic club,” concluded Mr Whiteman. A vote of thanks was passed to the following for assisting the club:—Wairarapa and Ruahine Aero Club, Home Guard, “Times-Age,” residents in the vicinity of the aerodrome, and Mr J. A. Betts for the use of the grounds. Mr I. E. Barton addressed new members on the building of models. He said that it was not wise to attempt difficult models until the simpler ones had been mastered, otherwise they! would get discouraged and lose interest. The new season’s flying will commence this weekend.
