BY BRITISH AIRCRAFT IN MEDITERRANEAN EFFECTIVE BLOWS STRUCK AT MANY TARGETS. IN ITALY, SICILY & LIBYA. LONDON, September 2. In the Mediterranean, British aircraft continue their attacks on the enemy. The latest targets included objectives at Tripoli, Benghazi, the south of Italy and in Sicily. Merchant 'ships, harbours, aerodromes, munition factories, roads and railways were attacked. A merchant ship in Tripoli Harbour is believed to have been sunk and another was left blazing from stem to stern. Two attacks were made on shipping in Benghazi Harbour. A port in Sicily was attacked, besides a munition factory, shipping and railway yards at a point in the heel of Italy. Quays and a seaplane were also attacked. Units of the Fleet Air Arm dropped bombs among dispersed aircraft on the ground. Two planes are missing.
