MADE BY VICHY SUPPORTERS IN TAHITI. MANY PROMINENT CITIZENS ARRESTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, September 2. Pro-Vichy officials recently attempted to seize power in Tahiti' but failed, according to a message received in Sydney. The Governor-General (M. Brunot) ordered the arrest of many prominent citizens who will probably be deported. A mission superintendent at Tahiti in a letter to Seventh Day Adventists’ headquarters here said the plotting began soon after the arrival of the Governor-General although the majority of the population are de Gaulleists.
