EKETAHUNA
PRIVATE W. CAPSTICK PRISONER IN GERMANY. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr and Mrs G. Capstick have received word that their nephew, Private W. Capstick, is a prisoner of war in Germany. Private Capstick states that he has a good job and that the work is regular. The prisoners receive a little pay with which they are able to buy goods from, the canteens. Every Sunday night a concert is held. An amusing note was struck when Private Capstick recounted the winning of a footrace by a friend, who received half a sausage as the prize. Private Capstick, states that the Red Cross Society’s parcels arrive regularly for which the prisoners are very thankful. Publication Ceased. The “Eketahuna Star” published its last issue on Saturday. In making the announcement the “Star” states that owing to members of its staff having been called up for Territorial service and the acute shortage of paper it had been found necessary to cease publication. The “Star” was a tri-weekly and first appeared about 18 months ago.
