An incident which caused some amusement to the onlookers, but not to the chief actors occurred in Kent Street yesterday afternoon. A car driven by Mr J. Lawrenson was turning in this street (which is renowned for its grass camouflaged water tables) when it ran. into the water table. Much to the surprise of the driver it sank down to the axle. A telephone call soon brought a breakdown van. The driver, with a nice sweep brought his van into a g'ood position, but before he knew what was up he and his van also slid into the water table. Just as the van driver was thinking of- sending out an S.O.S. for more help, a county truck came along and soon had the van out and he in turn pulled out the car. Stolen Car Located. A Chrysler car which was missed from Wellington on Thursday night, and belonging to a Mr Osborne, was located in Faraday Street, Carterton. It was not damaged and still had about a gallon of petrol in its tank.
