MASTERTON SALE ! HIGHER PRICES FOR FATS. The Masterton Auctioners* Association held their weekly sale yesterday. A good yarding of fat sheep and a few I store sheep came forward before a fair attendance of buyers. Fat prices were i slightly better than last week. PAHIATUA SALE BRISK COMPETITION FOR SHEEP. DAIRY CATTLE BRING LATE RATES. The Associated Auctioneers report on the Pahiatua sale as follows: —A large entry cf sheep comprising hoggets and fat sheep were offered to a large attendance of the public. Competition in this section was brisk throughout the sale and a total clearance was effected at prices slightly above late rates. Realisations in the dairy section were on a par with our previous sales, a large entry being disposed of at late rates. A medium entry of run cattle was yarded and sold well at auction. Pigs were yarded in large numbers, but owing to the change over to cheese supply, values here have receded. Quotations:— Sheep: Fat wethers, 29s 6d; fat ewes, 20s 2d to 16s; fat wether hoggets, 255. 24s 9d to 235; fat b.f. hoggets, 245, 23s to 20s 9d: wether hoggets (good), 225, 21s Gd, 21s to 20s 3d; small, 16s to 14s; ewe hoggets (medium), 28s 2d; small, 22s 7d. Run cattle: Small P.A. cows, £9 15s, £9 10s, £9 to £7 10s; springing heifers (good), £9 10s, £9 to £8 10s; poorer sorts, £8 to £7 2s 6d; empty cows. £3. Pigs: Weaners (good). 17s Gd, 16s to 14s; others, 13s Gd to 10s; stores, 26s to 225; porkers, 36s to 32s Gd; sows and litters, £3 10s to £3 2s Gd. ADDINGTON GOOD SALES IN MOST SECTIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, August 27. There were good sales in most sections at Addington today. The store sheep entry was 3000, mostly ewes which were not as keenly sought as recently. The fat sheep entry was 3000, of good quality. The sale was steady throughout, with wethers one shilling better and ewes firm. Best wethers made 30s to 44s 4d, others 20s to 295, best ewes 25s to 35s 4d, others 15s to 245. A few spring lambs offered sold at Is 3d per lb. The fat cattle entry was slightly smaller and of mediocre quality. The sale was patchy, with values about the same as last week. Best beef made to 45s per 1001 b., and good 37s 6d to 40s per 1001 b. Best steers made £l5 to £23 17s Gd, others from £9, best heifers £ll to £l6 2s Gd, others £6 up. best cows £lO to £l7 2s 6d, others from £4 10s. There was a large entry of porkers, but prices were unchanged till the end, when values were easing. The bacon yarding was large and prices were 2s a head lower. Porkers made £2 3s 6d to £3 4s 6d. average 7.? d to 91d, baconers £3 6s 6d to £4 19s Gd, average 6Jd to 71d.
