PUBLIC SERVICE
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER. MASTERTON ARRANGEMENTS. “If there was ever a time when we should be together, as a community, it is now," stated the Mayor of Masterton, Mr T. Jordan, in announcing last night that he intended inviting the community to attend a public service in the Masterton Park on Sunday, September 7, in accordance with the King’s wish for the observance of a National Day of Prayer. Mr Jordan said that he had been approached by representatives of the Masterton Ministers’ Association and it had been decided to hold a public open air service in the Park. The service would commence at 10 o’clock and would conclude at 10.30 to enable churchgoers to attend their own churches after the service. In the event of bad weather the service would be held in the Municipal Hall. The commander of the Masterton. Home Guard battalion had intimated that the Home Guard would parade.
“I hope to see a large and truly representative attendance,” added Mr Jordan.
