OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS
THE MEMORIAL PARK (To the Editor.) Sir,—l have read in my “Times-Age” the reports of the meetings of the Borough Council and the Trust Lands Trust and the discussions regarding the Cameron Memorial Park. The attitude of the Mayor and members _ of the council has surprised and pained me. That attitude is an insult to the memorial itself and to the memory of the brave Masterton boys who fought and died for us. The Memorial Park belongs to the citizens of Masterton and not to the Trust Lands Trust. The attitude of the members of the Borough Council is not the attitude ol the citizens of Masterton. It is the attitude of the present members of the council. What is to happen to the Soldiers’ Memorial Park? The trustees of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust cannot rob the children of Masterton of their educational heritage—their share of the Trust’s income. The Borough Council must shoulder its own responsibility. I shall be sorry, Sir, if my letter hurts anyone’s feelings. When a man in his 84th year takes on a fight he must hit.hard and put every ounce into his punch.--I am, etc., W. H. JACKSON. Carterton. August 25.
