GREYTOWN

PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE r— — "> SUCCESSFUL EFFORT. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Greytown Citizens’ Patriotic Committee held a successful cake stall in the Crown Theatre yesterday afternoon. The taking amounted to over £l6, including donations of £2 10s from Mr A. W. Saywell, £ 1 from Anonymous, and 10s from Mrs Ticehurst. INTERCESSION SERVICE TO BE HELD TOMORROW. The first of a series of united intercession services will be held in the Town Hall, Greytown, on Sunday next, at 8 p.m. Some have felt for a considerable time that the grave urgency of the present international and moral situation constituted an imperative call to the churches for greater unity of worship and action and a re-call of all citizens to religion. The Associated Ministers of the Anglican, Presbyterian and Methodist churches have therefore arranged this service and extend a cordial invitation to all to attend. The Rev. Canon Sykes will be chairman and the Rev. (Chaplain Major) G. Knowles-Smith will give an address oh “The Twentieth Century Magna Carta.” Hymn books will be provided and the singing will be led by the Mother’s League Choir, assisted by the choirs from other churches. An offering will be taken to cover any expenses. Residents are asked to make this service a monthly feature of the life of the town and district.
