SALE AT FEUDING MUTTON AND BEEF MAIN FEATURES. STRONG DEMAND FOR BOTH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING. August 22. Mutton and beef were the main features of the Feilding sale today, the market being strong for both. Some very nicely finished fatteners and wethers came forward, and competition was good, ewes in maiden condition selling up to 23s lOd, while wethers went to 32s 7d. No lambs were yarded, but a few pens of prime hoggets made to 30s 7d. Store sheep met with a quiet sale, the yarding being a small one. Good ewe hoggets again drew attention, the top price being 325, while wether hoggets went to 18s 6d, and black faces to 15s 7d. Very good four and five-year ewes changed hands at 25s 6d. and five and six-years at 23s 3d. The best price for two-tooth ewes was 33s lOd.
Because of continual wet weather, there was little demand for run cattle, particularly heavy beasts, and few were sold. Pens of forward three-year A.A. steers made to £8 17s 6d, while best two-year lines brought £8 ss. Well-grown yearling steers realised to £6, and two-year A.A. heifers to £5 ss. Yearling Jersey heifers were not attractive in quality, and met with a slow sale at up to £3 Bs. Dairy cattle also fell away in quality, and prices were well below those of recent sales. Best values for springing heifers were £lO, and for cows £9 ss. Heifers in milk brought to £8 ss. Prime ox beef met with a keen sale, prices going to about 36s per 1001 b. Light prime heifers changed hands at £9 7s 6d, and cows at £8 7s 6d.

Store cattle: Two and three-year A.A. heifers, £6 Ils; two-year do., £4 8s to £5 3s; three-year A.A. steers, good £8 17s 6d; smaller £8 2s 6d to £8 ss; two-year A.A. steers, £5 to £6; others £4 8s to £4 17s 6d; cows and calves, £5 18s; empty heifers. £3 18s to £5 7s; empty cows, £4 16s to £5 3s; yearling Jersey heifers. £2 4s to £5 8s; potter cows, £2 10s to £4 7s 6d.
Dairy cattle: Springing heifers, best £8 10s to £lO, backward £5 2s 6d to £7 ss; springing cows, £5 5s to £9 ss; heifers, calved, £7 to £8 ss.
Fat cattle: Light prime cows, £6 17s 6d to £8 7s 6d; unfinished, £6 to £6 15s; ex-dairy cows, £4 2s 6d to £6 ss; light prime heifers, £8 2s 6d to £9 7s 6d; others £6 12s 6d to £7 17s Octprime ox, £l2 12s 6d, light £9 15s; vealers, £2 4s. Pigs: Good weaners, 10s 6d to 12s 6d; small. 6s lOd; slips, 20s; porkers, 37s to 46s 6d.
CARTERTON SALE PIG PRICES IMPROVE. LITTLE DEMAND FOR SPRINGING HEIFERS. Messrs Wright, Stephenson & Co., Ltd., report as follows: A small yarding of pigs and a good, yarding of cattle came forward at our Carterton sale yesterday. Pigs showed an improvement on last week's sale and q total clearance was effected under the hammer. A good entry of springing heifers came forward but competition was limited and passings were frequent. Two pens of fat sheep were offered and these sold well. The following are some of the realisations: — Cattle: Pedigree Jersey cow on drop, 12gns; pedigree Jersey heifers, to 14gns; pedigree Jersey bulls, to 12gns; extra choice Jersey heifers on drop, to £l2 ss; Jersey heifers on drop, £3 to £10; springing Jersey heifers, £6 to £7 15s; Jersey heifers just calved, £5 to £7; springing Jersey cows, £8 to £10; fat cows, to £4 17s; P.A. bullocks, to £8 7s 6d.
