MASTERTON BATTALION

TUESDAY’S ARRANGEMENTS.

FILM SCREENING AT OPERA HOUSE. All classes, including those for officers and other ranks, set down for Tuesday night have been cancelled to enable all ranks of the Masterton Battalion of the Home Guard to attend a special instructional film screening at the Opera House. A film of great interest dealing with Home Guard and allied work will be shown. A full attendance is particularly desired as the instruction will be most valuable, To assist in arranging seating all ranks will fall in in usual formations outside the Opera House at 7.15 p.m. Both town and country units will attend the screening.

Parades. —A Company at Drill Hall and C Company at Municipal Hall, Thursday, August 28, at 7 p.m.; Ambulance, Town details, Thursday, at 7 p.m. Battalion Headuarters and A and C Companies at respective Drill Halls, Sunday, August 31, at 8.0 a.rn. March to Aerodrome to Pipe Band which will parade at Municipal Hall at 8.0 a.m. Parade will be held wet or fine. Company commanders will have alternative programmes ready in case of rain. Other units as arranged by unit commanders.

G Company Commander will supply a detail of approximately 40 men to parade at Malmo's Garage. Chapel Street, on Thursday. August 28, at 7.0 p.m., for range practice. .Rifle platoon to make ’ arrangements and supervise and arrange for coaches.

In order to assist in the efficient instruction of N.C.O.’s in map reading, the battalion is in need of several more prismatic compasses (army type). Any person having same and willing to assist by the loan of any of these instruments is invited to get in touch with battalion headquarters, Messrs Robinson and Cunningham's office. Perry Street, Masterton.

In response to his Majesty's request a special church parade of A and C and Headquarters. companies will be held on Sunday. September 7. Country companies will make parallel arrangements at local churches and advise headquarters in time for notification in next week’s orders.

Transfers: Headquarters Company. H. A. Harcombe to be in charge of petrol station guards with the rank of platoon commander. A Company. A. W. Griffiths transferred to H.G. Signals.

Promotion: E. Little to be Sergeant; E. G. E. Price, M. A. Nichol and B. Norman to be Corporals.

Marched in: Seven recruits. Marched out: J. Groves and S. Owen to camp.
