YOUNG FARMERS

MASTERTON CLUB’S ANNUAL DANCE. GATHERING AT MASONIC HALL. The annual dance organised by the Masterton Young Farmers’ Club wss held in-the Masonic Hall, ZaMlllßsk Masterton, last night. The event proved an outstanding success, and was conwS® sidered to be the most enjoyable function yet held by the club. The large attendance from all parts of the district taxed the floor space in the hall. As in the past, the hall decorations were particularly effective, and provided a pleasant contrast to the wintry weather outside. Gaily coloured streamers and lemon and black lampshades added to the general effect.

The proceedings went merrily to bright music supplied by Jack Barnes’s Rhythm Boys. The M’s.C., Messrs K. Donovan, W. Cooper and D. Buick, contributed largely to the successful running of the function.

Supper was served by a capable committee.

Mr W. James presented the “Point Blank” Cup, awarded for the Young Farmers’ stock-judging competition, io Mr W. Cooper. Mr James mentioned that the cup had been won by a member of the Masterion Club for the fifth consecutive time.

Novelty dances were held, the Monte Carlo waltz competition being won by Miss P. Nicol and Mr R. Harrington. A lucky spot quick-step was won by Miss Joan Riley and Mr Ivan Moody.
