ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the annual meeting of the Lower Valley Co-operative Dairy Company, the chairman of directors, Mr Campbell Smith, in moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet said that a very satisfactory position was disclosed. The cost f.o.b. had been re- 1 duced and the grade of the cheese had greatly improved, the average grade being the highest for many years. The pay-out this year was satisfactory, and compared very favourably with those of other companies. He congratulated the manager and staff on the results obtained. The suppliers were to be complimented on their assistance in supplying good milk, only .34 per cent second grade being received. The retiring directors, Messrs Campbell Smith and J. Jameson, were reelected unopposed.
At a subsequent meeting of directors Mr Campbell Smith was re-elected chairman. The other members of the directorate are Messrs A. Linton, J. Jameson, D. A. Gray, K. S. McMaster, D. S. Sutherland and A. Weatherstone. Soldier Entertained. Private Peter Hume was entertained by the residents of the district in the Memorial Hall on Tuesday night. Mr F. Lovegrove, on behalf of the residents, presented Private Hume with a wristlet watch and conveyed to him the best wishes of all. The recipient suitably replied. Dancing was indulged in, the Cosmopolitan Orchestra supplying the music. A Severe Storm. The storm at the weekend was one of the worst experienced in this district for some years. It is reported that the mortality amongst early lambs was heavy.
