NEUTRAL WATERS
VIOLATED BY GERMAN AIRCRAFT. ABORTIVE ATTACK ON BRITISH SHIPS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) RUGBY, August 20. German aircraft recently violated neutral waters and attacked a British merchant ship lying off the Portuguese coast, waiting to enter harbour. The crew were taken by surprise as the aircraft dropped a bomb near the ship and raked her with machine-gun fire. Fortunately there were no casualties.
