THROUGHOUT YUGOSLAVIA
IN SPITE OF SAVAGE NAZI THREATS. REPRISALS AGAINST FAMILIES. | (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day. 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, August 20. Despite ruthless reprisals, the revolt against the invaders is spreading throughout Yugoslavia, reports “The Times” Istanbul correspondent. The Germans have now issued a proclamation, giving an amnesty to those persons taking refuge in the. forests if they return within eight days; at the same time warning recalcitrants that they will be treated as outlaws and that measures will be taken against their families if they refuse. The insurgents are masters of practically the whole of Montenegro and have established their own Government, appointed mayors and other officials and even are issuing passports under the name of “Free Montenegro.” . The Bulgarians are carrying out ruthless Bulgarianisation of Greek Thrace and all Greek immigrants, who settled there from Anatolia after the exchange of populations, have been chased from their homes and sent to Salonika. Their houses, cattle and belongings have been given to the Bulgarians. Some 140 villages, with a population of 60.000 are affected.
