PIRINOA

PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE A SUCCESSFUL DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) At a meeting of the Pirinoa Patriotic Committee, Mr P. Macdonald presided; The secretary (Mr S. Thomas) submitted a balance sheet in connection with the dance held in aid of the Heart-to-Heart Appeal, which was considered very satisfactory. It was decided that the net balance be remitted to the secretary of the Martinborough centre. It was decided to make a presentation to Private Peter Hume.

An Unenviable Experience.

Two motorists, who were returning to Wellington on Saturday afternoon had an unenviable experience while ascending the Te Kopi hill, Palliser Bay. When half-way up the hill a portion of the cliff came down with the result that the car was completely hemmed in and partly covered. After much digging the car was finally moved to safer ground. Neither of the occupants of the car were injured.

Personal Items.

Mrs W. Hume.. Wellington, is staying with her son, Mr Trevor Hume, Raho Ruru.

Private Peter Hume is spending part of his leave with relatives here. Mr Russell Lovegrove, who is an inmate of the Greytown Hospital, is rapidly improving in health. Mr Norman Allen, Wellington, is the guest of Mr and Mrs W. T. Hume. Mr and Mrs W. Adams, who have been residents here for the past year, will shortly leave for the South Island.

Mr and. Mrs Groves recently visited relatives in the district.
