INDOOR BASKETBALL
INTERHOUSE ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP CONTESTS. FINAL GAMES OF SEASON. The final games of the indoor basketball championships was played in the Y.M.C.A. Hall last evening. Vesta and the State Kitchenette teams met in the men’s section and after a fast and thrilling game the State Kitchenette emerged the victors. In the ladies’ senior A grade, Lancers scored a well-earned win over Woolworths. Playing excellent basketball Codys defeated McKenzies to win the ladies’ senior B championship from State Kitchenette, who have won their last eight games. The results of the games arc as follow: — LADIES’ SENIOR A. (Championship winners, W.F.C.A.) W.F.C.A. 14 (J. Palmer 2, A. Keisenberg 6, I. Palmer 6) beat Garages 0. Lancers 10 (J. Gemmell 6, P. Hanley 4) beat Woolworths 1 (A. Burgess 1). LADIES’ SENIOR B GRADE. , (Championship winners, Codys). Codys 1G (M. Eastwood 8, R. Eastwood 4, J. Grantham 4) beat McKenzies 10 (G. Finlayson 2, V. Grimwood 4, I. Jones 4). State Kitchenette A 20 (A. Stains 14, J. Jones 4, N. Davey 2) beat. Cathies 7 (M. McCormack 4, D. Rickards 1, C. Riddell 2). McDuffs 2 (J. Fitzwater 2) drew with Rovers 2 (J. Gleeson 2). JUNIOR LADIES. (Championship winners, Rangers A).
■ State Kitchenette B 16 (D. Kenny 2, O. Hunt 2, J. Stains 12) beat Rangers B 5 (H. Polangaroa 3, C. Walker 2). Sparklets 11 (P. Dixon 5, O. Richards 4, E. McGovern 2) beat Tattons 4 (I. Dickason 2, V. Hessell 2).
MEN’S SECTION. (Championship winners, State Kitchenette).
State Kitchenette 16 (E. Jaspers 1, D. Minifie 4, T. Burns 4, D. Cairns 3. J. Barnes 4) beat Vesta Batteries 11 (R. Riley 1, D. Costello 1, C. Reid 4, J. Riley 5). Bouzaids 28 (H. Hayes 14, R. Harrington 8, S. Faulknor 6) beat Woolworths 6 (B. McHattie 4, H. Madsen 2).
During the evening Mr G. Daubney made a presentation to Mrs Piper on behalf of the Wairarapa Interhouse Association and the interhouse girls. He thanked Mrs Piper for having been present each week to control the ladies’ games. The officials last evening were: Mr G. Davis, scorekeeper; Mr F. Stains, timekeeper; Messrs D. Costello, D. Costello, D. Minifie, S. Faulknor and Mr and Mrs H. Piper of Wellington, referees.
