SCHOOL ASSOCIATION MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Home and School Association was held last night, when Miss Card presided over a good attendance. It was decided to purchase a new basketball.
A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Farrier for the offer of three-quarters of an acre of land to the District High School-to be used for agricultural work. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr McKain for having provided the school with a new football. Personal Items. Miss Alison Marshall is visiting the Chateau Tongariro with a party of Solway College pupils. Mr K. H. Allen, of the Bank of New Zealand, is spending a holiday in Wellington and Nelson, and is being relieved by Mr F. O. Jones, of Hastings. Miss Marjory Tocker will enter the Masterton Hospital on Wednesday to undergo her 60-hour V.A. training. Red Cross Society. Twenty-three students will sit in connection with the Red Cross Society's examination tonight. The examiners will be Drs Sharp and Palmer and Mr Willett. Euchre Party. There was a good attendance at the Red Cross Society’s weekly euchre tournament yesterday afternoon, and which realised £2 14s 3d. Mrs Neilson and Mrs F. White were the winners at cards. Competitions were won by Mesdames R. G. McKenzie, McKenna and Mrs F. White. The latter handed her prize back and this was finally won by Mrs Sim. Donations of goods were received from Mesdames Kenny, Feast, Lawson and Ritchie. Cash donations are acknowledged from Mrs Cherry (10s) and Mrs P. H. Wilton (£1).
