DESTRUCTION OF BROOKLYN PIER
FIRE SPREADS TO AMERICAN SHIP.
INVESTIGATION BY FEDERAL AGENTS.
LONDON, August 18
Federal agents have begun an investigation into a big fire which broke out early today and destroyed the Brooklyn Pier. The fire spread to an American freighter and to several heavilyladen barges. The flames were prevented from spreading to another pier where British ships were being loaded.
