Mr A. A. McLachlan has been appointed a temporary stipendiary magistrate, according to a Gazette notice. Mr Welsley Roberts, F.R.A.M.. who is examining for the Associated Board of the Royal Colleges of Music this season, is professor, lecturer and examiner at the Royal Academy of Music, London. He last visited New Zealand as an examiner in 1925.
The Rev. Jasper Calder, Auckland city missioner, who has been granted six months’ sick leave, left Auckland this week in the California Clipper. This is his first extended holiday since his ordination to the ministry of the Anglican Church 30 years ago. Mr Calder had arranged to leave for America on July 28 in the Matson liner Monterey, but, because of a recent revision of the United States immigration laws, was unable to obtain his visa in time to sail.
