OFFICIAL FIGURES.
The official figures of export killings at the Dominion's freezing works from October 1, 1940, till August 2, 1941, as issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board show that lamb killings have reached a total of 11,220,386 or 838,791 carcases above that of the previous season. Ewe killings now show a decrease of 383,148 carcases compared with the previous season, the current total being 1,536,414. Wethers have declined by 691,130, the killings this season totalling 615,727. Frozen beef production has reached 692.495 quarters compared with 687,058. Porker killings! 211,266 in the North Island, and 8,305 in the South) total 219,571 showing an increase of 128,969 carcases. Baconer killings were as follows:—North Island 273,886 (compared with 313,964): South Island 9,105 (11,773) a decrease this season of 42,746 carcases. Killings of choppers total 10,151, being a decrease of 774.
