TABLE TENNIS • COMPETITION RESULTS. ("Times-Age” Special.) At the weekly competitions of the Featherston Table Tennis Club the results were as follow: — A grade: A. McNamara beat Miss C. Saba, 31/29. B grade: S. Buck beat Miss B. Davis, 32/30. Mr McNamara shows great promise as a player. Of the ladies, Miss C. Saba and Miss J. Marshall are showing very good form, while of the younger players D. Sirnm should excell at table tennis.

WOMEN’S WAR SERVICE FORMATION OF GIRLS’ COMMITTEE. After a lecture given under the auspices of the Women's War Service Auxiliary by Mr H. Clark in the Red Cross Society's Rooms last night, a junior girls’ committee was formed with the following officers: Mesdames A. Annair, S. Lett. Misses June Taylor. Edna Wilkinson, Alice Johnson. Kitty Rowles. Miss Joan Marshall was appointed secretary. The offer of a 4-acre section by Mr J. W. Card was accepted, and will be cultivated by the girls. The proceeds from the sale of the vegetables and flowers, which it is proposed to grow, will be devoted to the patriotic funds. Miniature Rifle Club. The following were the highest scores registered on the Featherston Miniature Rifle Club’s range this week: I. Feast 98, E. O’Neale 98, B. Williams 95, M. Hodder 93. A. Cook 92, K. McKenzie 95. Personal Items. Mrs Foster, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs C. C. Corlet, Pahautea. Mrs R. McKenzie, Ballance, is visiting her father, Mr J. W. Card. Constable Howell, Dannevirke, has been appointed to take charge of the police station at Featherston, and is expected to commence his duties early next week. Mrs Bloxam, Senr., who has been on an extended visit to Christchurch, is now the guest of Mrs H. R. Bloxam. Euchre Party. Owing to the rough weather last night, there was only a fair attendance at the euchre party held by the Fire Brigade. The winners were: Ladies, Mrs Kinsey 1, Mrs Skipage 2. Men: Mr Boston 1, Mr Skipagp 2.
