CHEMICAL WARFARE

AIR RAID PRECAUTIONS.

LOCAL STUDENTS SIT FOR

EXAMINATION.

The Nursing Division of the St. John Ambulance in Masterton some time ago instituted a class of instruction in air raid precautions and chemical warfare, a most important section of local defence. The class was most enthusiastically supported and as the result of tuition received from Miss Van Staveren, of Wellington, who delivered flight lectures to the students and of instruction and encouragement given by members connected with the Division 27 students were able to sit for their examination at Masterton this week, in connection with which Mesdames D. K. McKenzie and H. E. Pither acted as supervisees. This is the first occasion on which such an examination has been held in the Wairarapa.
