DAY OF PRAYER
DESIRED BY THE KING. OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT IN BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 9.45 a.m.) RUGBY, August 14. The Archbishop of Canterbury has issued a statement that the King desires September 7 to be observed as a national day of prayer. The Church of England does not' propose to issue any new forms of prayer’ and the clergy are advised that they may use the forms issued in May, 1940, and used last March.
