WAIRARAPA R.S.A.
MEETING OF CENTRAL COMMITTEE. CHANGE OF NAME FAVOURED. A meeting of the central committee of the Wairarapa R.S.A. was held in Masterton last night, the president, Mr H. J. Brass, being in the chair. There were also present Messrs L. Nicholson, L. T. Wylie. R. Whyborn, F. Shearer, L. S. Nicol. W. R. McMinn, F. N. Cunningham (Masterton), C. A. Chennels, A. G. Rabbitts, A. T. Murray (Carterton), J. A. Halpin. J. W. Fellingham (Featherston), N. H. Thomas and N. C. D. Mason (Martinborough)( Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. D. O'Connor, H. G. Alexander and A. G. Nisbet. Mr C. D. Robertson was appointed assistant quartermaster to the association. Accounts totalling £95 14s 6d were passed. The financial membership was reported to total 786. Arising out of correspondence from R.S.A. headquarters, it was decided to support a change of name from the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association to the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association. A copy of the minutes of the Dominion Council meeting of the New Zealand R.S.A., held in May, was laid on the table. Mr Brass reported upon a meeting of local bodies held in the borough council chambers on July 21, . when matters pertaining to the raising of patriotic funds, the apportionment of > Quotas in districts, the rehabilitation of returned men, Government responsibi- ‘ lity for hospital care of ex-service men and other matters affecting the welfare of returned soldiers were discussed. Six new members were elected.
