EXCEEDED SUBSTANTIALLY
IN £1,000,000 PATRIOTIC APPEAL.
THE PROVINCIAL RETURNS & ALLOCATIONS. (By Telegi-aph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Mr J. Abel, honorary Dominion organiser of the Million Pound All Purposes Patriotic Appeal, states that with the closing of the Auckland metropolitan campaign last night, the appeal is practically finalised, with an outstanding amount of £1.150,000 coming to hand. This is over £150,000 more than the quota: As Canterbury and Southland have not yet closed the lists in all their zones there will be a certain amount of money still to come in which will be considered as part of this appeal, but Mr Abel states that, from a national point of view, the results can be taken as final. The following table shows the proportions allocated, according to population, to each province and the amounts notified as being col-
