(By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) ((Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) SIMLA, August 13. “British losses in .the Middle East have been higher than those of India, Australia and New Zealand, both in actual number and in proportion to the troops engaged,” said General Sir Archibald Wavell, broadcasting. He mentioned the fact to correct any wrong impression that might exist. Nearly 750,000 Indians are under arms, lie stated, and recruits were flowing in as fast as the Army could provide for them. General Wavell paid a tribute to the Indian troops’ part in the Middle East campaign, where their casualties were fifteen per cent of the total for the Imperial forces. Future efforts, he observed, must continue to prevent the enemy getting within striking distance of India.
