EXTENSION IN UNITED STATES. CLOSE DIVISION IN HOUSE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, August 12. The House of Representatives oassed the Bill extending the period of military service by 203 votes to 202. The passage of the Bill means that military trainees, reservists and national guardsmen will be retained on service for 30 months instead of the original 12. Earlier, on a vote taken by the voices the House adopted the 18-months limit on the extension of service. Various isolationist moves to limit the extension were rejected.
