The death has occurred of Mr Henry Warren Kelly, formerly mayor of Richmond Borough for nine years and a member of Nelson Harbour Board for 17 years, says a Press Association telegram from Nelson. Since transferring from Wellington to the Nelson District 20 years ago, he took a prominent part in all public affairs. Mr G. Bildedbeck, of Masterton, is a daughter of the late Mr Kelly.

Mr J. M. Gordon, recently appointed lieut.-colonel to command the Ist Battalion,, Wellington-West Coast Regiment Territorials, has been selected National Party candidate for Palmerston North as a result of a ballot. The other nominee, Mr M. H. Oram, is a barrister, and Mr Gordon is also a member of the legal profession.
