COSTUMES AMD ACCESSORIES. DISPLAY AT W.F.C.A. A splendid display of original costumes and accessories worn by popular screen' stars in recent productions covering a wide range of articles was officially opened by the Mayoress of Masterton, Mrs T. Jordan, at the Wairarapa Farmers’ Co-operative Association's show room yesterday afternoon. There was a large and representative attendance. Mr F. E. Wells apologised for the absence of the general manager, Mr J. H. Cunningham, owing to illness, and extended a warm welcome to Mrs Jordan. “It is a case of the unreal becoming real,” said Mrs Jordan in commenting on the many beautiful gowns and articles in the exhibition which the majority of those present would have seen on the screen. Mrs Jordan expressed gratitude to the W.F.C.A. for its patriotic gesture in arranging the display, and stated that money raised would go to the local Patriotic Committee which packed soldiers parcels. She said that she hoped the public would also play its part to enable the raising of patriotic money to provide comforts for the soldiers. The exhibition includes lace-edged handkerchiefs, gloves for all occasions, hats and shoes, beautiful period goWns and wraps, etc. The display will be open throughout the week, the pro- 1 ceeds from which will be donated to the Masterton Patriotic Committee responsible for sending soldiers’ gift parcels.
