SERGEANT P. DYER
RECOMMENDED FOR D.F.M. Sergeant Pat Dyer, a member of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, who was reported missing a fortnight ago, stated in a letter received by his parents, Sergeant and Mrs T. H. Dyer, formerly of Masterton, and now of Papakura, Auckland, that he had been recommended for the Distinguished Flying Medal. When taking a refresher course at a training school recently he came out with top marks. Sergeant Dyer received his preliminary training at Levin, New Plymouth, and Ohakea, and left for England in June, 1940. He joined a Channel air squadron and three months ago had been attached to a squadron of Wellington bombers which made twenty-three raids over Germany and occupied territory. •
