Frost in Masterton Today. A frost of 10.1 degrees was registered in Masterton this morning. Victory Badge Street Day. Victory badges will be on sale in the street on Friday. The sale is being organised by the Masterton Women's Patriotic Committee and the proceeds will be devoted to providing comforts for soldiers. The promoters hope that everyone, men, women and children, will "be wearing V for Victory badges on Friday. Concrete Lining of Mains. The task of carrying out the concrete lining of the borough water mains is brought very much under the notice of the public at present, with operations extending along the business portion of Chapel Street. This work is,to be continued to the junction of Renajl Street, and then the Queen Street main will be treated, and possibly the one in Dixon Street. Good progress is beingmade with the work, which is at times the centre of considerable attention. Old Socks Wanted. Further supplies of old socks are required by the Masterton Women’s Patriotic Committee, for conversion into mittens. A consignment of these sockmittens was recently despatched to Waiouru Camp. In acknowledging receipt of the consignment, the camp commandant writes: "As we have just received a fresh batch of trainees and have had a heavy fall of snow, these arrived at an opportune time and all have been issued. We thank you for ycur timely gift.” Donations of old socks may be left at the Ladies’ Rest Room.

Taihape's Hospitality. Many Wairarapa Territorials who have attended the Waiouru Camp speak in high terms of the hospitality and kindness extended to them by the residents of Taihape and district. On the occasions in which men are allowed to visit Taihape on weekend leave, everything possible is done for their comfort and entertainment. Many of the Territorials are received into the people’s own homes and treated as members of the family. The men very much appreciate what is done for them by the people of the town and district and also express their satisfaction with the condition’s generally in Waiouru Camp,
