CLEARING SALE. HELD AT EKETAHUNA YESTERDAY. . Messrs L'algety and Co., Ltd. (Inc. in England) in conjunction with the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (Inc. in England) report as follows:— We held at the farm at Eketahuna yesterday, a very successful clearing sale of dairy cows on account of Mr F. J. McManus. The cows came forward in exceptionally good condition and were a credit to the vendor. A large atten« dance of local farmers was present, and from the outset competition was keen. Although several of the cows were sold without calving elates, prices realised were very satisfactory, the average being the best obtained in the district during the season. Prices were:—Second and 3rd calvers, due August, made from £l2, £l3 ss, £l3 7s. 6d, £l4 to £l4 10s; 4th and sth calvers, due August, made from £lO, £lO 15s, £ll 10s, £l2 5s to £l3 10s; September and October calvers, £B, £8 10s, £8 15s to £9 12s 6d; while the whole herd made an average of £ll 12s per head; weaner Jersey heifers, £4 12s 6d; sow with litter of nine, £6 15s; yearling Jersey bull, s,}gns.; 3-yr. Jersey bull, £5 7s 6d. A quantity of farm sundries sold at late clearing sale rates. At the conclusion of Mr McManus’s sale we offered an outside entry of cows and heifers on account of Mr W. Keith. This entry also attracted keen competition, and realised good values. Cows which ranged from 2nd to 4th calvers sold at from £lO, £lO 10s, £l2, £l2 15s, averaging £ll ss. Springing heifers sold from £B, £9 15s, and late calving heifers made £7 ss.
