MR MACDONALD CLEARS UP MISCONCEPTIONS PREVALENT IN UNITED STATES. MILITARY AND FINANCIAL FACTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) WASHINGTON, August 3. I The United Kingdom^High Commis-’ sioner to Canada. Mr Malcolm Mac-' Donald, aiming to clarify misconcep-i tions regarding the Canadian wareffort prevalent in the United States,; told the Press that Canada was de-; voting more than 40 per cent of her national income to the active prosecution of the war and about 16 per cent of this amount was being used to pay for supplies sent to Britain. He said 100.000 Canadian troops were stationed in Britain at strategic points to repel a possible invasion, and Canada was getting all the men lequired for overseas service by voluntary recruiting. He said it was not true that Canada was asking Britain to pay cash on the barrel for war supplies. On the contrary, Canadian taxpayers were paying 1,150,000,000 dollars in the current fiscal year for supplies that were being given and lent to Britain.
