A newly-formed organisation, the Loyal Americans of German Descent,issued the following manifesto for the 27th anniversary of' the World War: “As Americans, devoted to the cause of freedom everywhere, we are determined to help win the present fight in repudiation of brute force. “To the Nazis in America we challenge this, master whom you v serve, whether blindly or knowingly. He has killed what is best in German life and we recognise him as the most brutalising upshot of all the dark, despotic forces which have ever sought to tyrannise the world. You enjoy the spiritual and material benefit which this democracy bestows, and you are traitors to its hospitality. We shall fight your destructive efforts. Yoti shall not sabotage our world.”
